Why Muslims are Guilty of Committing Shirk

Muslim apologists/polemicists will go to any extreme in order to prove Muhammad, even to the point of committing the unforgivable sin in Islam, which is called shirk.

Shirk is when a person associates a partner with Allah either in his exclusive attributes, sovereignty and/or worship:

Who has made the earth a resting place for you, and the sky as a canopy, and sent down water (rain) from the sky and brought forth therewith fruits as a provision for you. Then do not set up rivals unto Allah (in worship) while you know (that He Alone has the right to be worshipped). S. 2:22 Hilali-Khan

Verily, Allah forgives not that partners should be set up with him in worship, but He forgives except that (anything else) to whom He pleases, and whoever sets up partners with Allah in worship, he has indeed invented a tremendous sin. S. 4:48 Hilali-Khan – Cf. 4:116

The Quran expressly prohibits worshiping any being other than Allah, even if they are prophets:

It is not (possible) for any human being to whom Allah has given the Book and Al-Hukma (the knowledge and understanding of the laws of religion, etc.) and Prophethood to say to the people: "Be my worshippers (ʿibādan) rather than Allah's." On the contrary (he would say): "Be you Rabbaniyun (learned men of religion who practise what they know and also preach others), because you are teaching the Book, and you are studying it." Nor would he order you to take angels and Prophets for lords (gods). Would he order you to disbelieve after you have submitted to Allah's Will? (Tafsir At-Tabari). S. 3:79-80 Hilali-Khan

And on the Day when He will gather them together and that which they worship (yabudoona) besides Allah [idols, angels, pious men, saints, 'Iesa (Jesus) son of Maryam (Mary), etc.]. He will say: "Was it you who misled these My slaves or did they (themselves) stray from the (Right) Path?" They will say: "Glorified be You! It was not for us to take any Auliya' (Protectors, Helpers, etc.) besides You, but You gave them and their fathers comfort till they forgot the warning, and became a lost people (doomed to total loss).” Thus they (false gods all deities other than Allah) will give you (polytheists) the lie regarding what you say (that they are gods besides Allah), then you can neither avert (the punishment), nor get help. And whoever among you does wrong (i.e. sets up rivals to Allah), We shall make him taste a great torment. S. 25:17-19 Hilali-Khan

And (remember) the Day when He will gather them all together, and then will say to the angels: "Was it you that these people used to worship (yabudoona)?" They (angels) will say: "Glorified be You! You are our Wali (Lord) instead of them. Nay, but they used to worship (yabudoona) the jinns; most of them were believers in them." S. 34:40-41

And ask (O Muhammad) those of Our Messengers whom We sent before you: "Did We ever appoint aliha (gods) to be worshipped (yabudoona) besides the Most Beneficent (Allah)?" S. 43:45 Hilali-Khan

And yet Muslims are now embarrassing themselves by claiming that Muhammad is the Son of Man figure of Daniel, the one whom all nations are to worship forever in every language:

“In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of every language worshiped (litaʿbīdin لتتعبّد) him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.” Daniel 7:13-14 New International Version (NIV)

Contrast the worship given to this figure with that which is given to the Most High God:

Note that Then the sovereignty, power and greatness of all the kingdoms under heaven will be handed over to the holy people of the Most High. His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all rulers will worship (ya‘budūna يعبدون) and obey him.” Daniel 7:27 NIV

It is clear that Daniel’s Son of Man is no mere human being, but is actually God appearing as a Man.

I’ve even included the Arabic rendering of the Aramaic verb employed in Daniel to denote the worship that the Son of Man receives, namely, pelach (yipelachun), in order to show that this is incompatible with Islamic teaching.

Daniel’s theology directly contradicts the Quran, which emphatically prohibits any one from receiving ibadah (worship) besides Allah, even if he happens to be a prophet!

Nor does the Quran allow for there to be a partner or a son that shares in Allah’s unique sovereignty and dominion over all creation:

And say: "All the praises and thanks be to Allah, Who has not begotten a son (nor an offspring), and Who has no partner in (His) Dominion, nor He is low to have a Wali (helper, protector or supporter). And magnify Him with all the magnificence, [Allahu-Akbar (Allah is the Most Great)]." S. 17:111 Hilali-Khan

Say: "Allah knows best how long they stayed. With Him is (the knowledge of) the unseen of the heavens and the earth. How clearly He sees, and hears (everything)! They have no Wali (Helper, Disposer of affairs, Protector, etc.) other than Him, and He makes NONE to share in His Decision and His Rule." S. 18:26 Hilali-Khan

He to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and Who has begotten no son (children or offspring) and for Whom there is no partner in the dominion. He has created everything, and has measured it exactly according to its due measurements. S. 25:2 Hilali-Khan

And yet, Daniel’s Son of Man is an eternal King who possesses an indestructible kingdom wherein he rules over all human beings.

To make matters worse for Sunni Muslims, the so-called authentic narrations directly censure and rebuke any person who makes the mistake of worshiping Muhammad:

Narrated `Aisha:

Abu Bakr came from his house at As-Sunh on a horse. He dismounted and entered the Mosque, but did not speak to the people till he entered upon `Aisha and went straight to Allah's Messenger who was covered with Hibra cloth (i.e. a kind of Yemenite cloth). He then uncovered the Prophet's face and bowed over him and kissed him and wept, saying, "Let my father and mother be sacrificed for you. By Allah, Allah will never cause you to die twice. As for the death which was written for you, has come upon you." Narrated Ibn `Abbas: Abu Bakr went out while `Umar bin Al-Khattab was talking to the people. Abu Bakr said, "Sit down, O `Umar!" But `Umar refused to sit down. So the people came to Abu Bakr and left `Umar. Abu Bakr said, "To proceed, if anyone amongst you used to worship (ya'budu) Muhammad, then Muhammad is dead, but if (anyone of) you used to worship (ya'budu) Allah, then Allah is Alive and shall never die. Allah said:--"Muhammad is no more than an Apostle, and indeed (many) apostles have passed away before him..(till the end of the Verse )......Allah will reward to those who are thankful." (3.144) By Allah, it was as if the people never knew that Allah had revealed this Verse before till Abu Bakr recited it and all the people received it from him, and I heard everybody reciting it (then).

Narrated Az-Zuhri: Sa`id bin Al-Musaiyab told me that `Umar said, "By Allah, when I heard Abu Bakr reciting it, my legs could not support me and I fell down at the very moment of hearing him reciting it, declaring that the Prophet had died."

And:

The Rumor that the Prophet was Killed at Uhud

When Muslims suffered defeat in battle at Uhud and some of them were killed, Shaytan shouted, "Muhammad has been killed.” Ibn Qami'ah went back to the idolators and claimed, "I have killed Muhammad.” Some Muslims believed this rumor and thought that the Messenger of Allah had been killed, claiming that this could happen, for Allah narrated that this occurred to many Prophets before. Therefore, the Muslims' resolve was weakened and they did not actively participate in battle. This is why Allah sent down to His Messenger His statement...

(Muhammad is no more than a Messenger, and indeed Messengers have passed away before him.) he is to deliver Allah's Message and may be killed in the process, just as what happened to many Prophets before. Ibn Abi Najih said that his father said that a man from the Muhajirin passed by an Ansari man who was bleeding (during Uhud) and said to him, "O fellow! Did you know that Muhammad was killed?” The Ansari man said, "Even if Muhammad was killed, he has indeed conveyed the Message. Therefore, defend your religion.” The Ayah...

(Muhammad is no more than a Messenger, and indeed (many) Messengers have passed away before him), was revealed. This story was collected by Al-Hafiz Abu Bakr Al-Bayhaqi in Dala'il An-Nubuwwah.

Allah said next, while chastising those who became weak...

(If he dies or is killed, will you then turn back on your heels), become disbelievers...

(And he who turns back on his heels, not the least harm will he do to Allah; and Allah will give reward to those who are grateful), those who obeyed Allah, defended His religion and followed His Messenger whether he was alive or dead. The Sahih, Musnad and Sunan collections gathered various chains of narration stating that Abu Bakr recited this Ayah when the Messenger of Allah died. Al-Bukhari recorded that ` A'ishah said that Abu Bakr came riding his horse from his dwelling in As-Sunh. He dismounted, entered the Masjid and did not speak to anyone until he came to her in her room and went directly to the Prophet, who was covered with a marked blanket. Abu Bakr uncovered his face, knelt down and kissed him, then started weeping and proclaimed, "My father and my mother be sacrificed for you! Allah will not combine two deaths on you. You have died the death, which was written for you.”

Ibn ` Abbas narrated that Abu Bakr then came out, while ` Umar was addressing the people, and Abu Bakr told him to sit down but ` Umar refused, and the people attended to Abu Bakr and left ` Umar. Abu Bakr said, "To proceed; whoever among you worshipped Muhammad, then Muhammad is dead, but whoever worshipped Allah, Allah is alive and will never die. Allah said...

(Muhammad is no more than a Messenger and indeed (many) Messengers have passed away before him. If he dies or is killed, will you then turn back on your heels. And he who turns back on his heels, not the least harm will he do to Allah; and Allah will reward the grateful.)” The narrator added, "By Allah, it was as if the people never knew that Allah had revealed this verse before until Abu Bakr recited it, and then whoever heard it, started reciting it.'' Sa` id bin Al-Musayyib said that ` Umar said, "By Allah! When I heard Abu Bakr recite this Ayah, my feet could not hold me, and I fell to the ground.” Allah said...

(And no person can ever die except by Allah's leave and at an appointed term.) 3:145 meaning, no one dies except by Allah's decision, after he has finished the term that Allah has destined for him. This is why Allah said...

(at an appointed term) which is similar to His statements...

(And no aged man is granted a length of life nor is a part cut off from his life, but it is in a Book) 35:11, and...

(He it is Who has created you from clay, and then has decreed a (stated) term (for you to die). And there is with Him another determined term (for you to be resurrected)) 6:2. (Tafsir Ibn Kathir: https://www.alim.org/quran/tafsir/ibn-kathir/surah/3/144/)

Since Muhammad is a mere human who died, it is therefore a gave sin to worship him. Rather, the Muslims should be worshiping Allah since he is ever-living.

Therefore, Daniel’s monotheism expressly contradicts Islamic theology, and refutes any notion of Muhammad being the Son of Man since this would be in direct violation of the teachings of Sunni Islam.

If Muhammad is the Son of the Man than both the Quran and ahadith are wrong about not worshiping anyone other than Allah. However, if Abu Bakr was correct that Muslims are not to worship their prophet who died and is merely mortal, then modern day Muslims are in grave danger for committing shirk, which their lord will never forgive. This means that these Muslim polemicists are calling folks to give to a dead man the exclusive worship that is to be given to their god alone.

Worshiping Jesus as the Son of Man, however, is not wrong according to the logic employed by Abu Bakr.

After all, unlike Muhammad who died, Christ is still alive even according to the Islamic tradition, which further teaches that he will personally return to the earth as a righteous and just Judge and Ruler.

This means that those who worship Christ are worshiping a Person who is still alive with Allah, above the seven heavens, unlike Muhammad who has been dead and buried for over 1,400 years.

Now God’s Word, the Holy Bible, is explicitly clear that Jesus destroyed death by his physical, bodily resurrection where he is immortal and can never die again:

“Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, is never to die again; death no longer is master over Him. For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all, but the life that He lives, He lives to God.” Romans 6:8-10

“For it is evident that our Lord was descended from Judah, a tribe with reference to which Moses spoke nothing concerning priests. And this is clearer still, if another priest arises according to the likeness of Melchizedek, who has become such not according to a law of physical requirement, but according to the power of an indestructible life... And the former priests, on the one hand, existed in greater numbers because they were prevented by death from continuing, but Jesus, on the other hand, because He continues forever, holds His priesthood permanently. Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. For it was fitting for us to have such a high priest, holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners and exalted above the heavens;” Hebrews 7:14-16, 23-26

“And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet like a dead man. And He placed His right hand on me, saying, ‘Do not fear; I am the first and the last, and the living One; and I was dead, and behold, I am alive forever and ever, and I have the keys of death and of Hades.’” Revelation 1:17-18

Therefore, Jesus is just like Allah in that he is ever-living and therefore deathless.

Hence, it is the risen Christ who is the Son of Man that Daniel saw, not Muhammad who died and withered away.
